For Lateral Loads You Need A Lateral Anchor!New IRC Code ChangesAs you may be aware the ICC has recently adopted resolution RB159-06/07 which includes paragraph R502.2.2.2 Deck Lateral Load Connection. In addition to lag screws it is now required to add a lateral tension device to the ledger connection transferring lateral loads directly from joist to joist. These changes will be included as municipalities update their adoptions of the ICC code. See more info on our IRC Code page. DeckLok is the only anchoring system specifically designed and patented for lateral loads!
Although each shares the same basic shape as the proper material, there are critical properties engineered into each product to perform the intended function. Lateral anchors are specifically engineered to maximize the performance of the deck-to-house foundation assembly. The engineering of the DeckLok anchor is designed to resist pull out, providing additional strength and durability through the deflection of DeckLok’s tri-fold feature. DeckLok’s offset bolt pattern maximizes the strength of the wood framing members by bolting through two different wood grains. See also: |
